Would the person (or persons) who decided that the original JAWS paperback/movie art was not good enough to use for the JAWS 25th Anniversary please explain why!

KASTEL JAWS



The original JAWS paperback art is one of the greatest promotional images ever created. Roger Kastel, who has painted several paperback novel covers, scored BIG with this one!
Was there anyone in 1975 that wasn't interested in checking out this movie after seeing this image hanging on the lobby walls of their local theater??

This is one of the best quotes I've ever read regarding why JAWS is such a great film:

"How can you not love JAWS? I think JAWS is his (Steven Spielberg) second-best movie, after Schindler's List. What I love about it is, it's a real primal movie. There's no political correctness, nothing about the attitude of how we should feel about the sea and the sharks. It's about pride of species. This is a shark that's eating man, and man must stop it. You want to get the shark, and the shark wants to get man, and you kind of like the shark because he wants to get man, and you kind of like the men because they want to get the shark. And it never lets anything get in the way of that."

Reportedly, Steven Spielberg was in preproducton of this film, CLEARWATER, when he read the galleys to JAWS. He dropped out of this project and well, the rest as they say is history.

"I don't know how much movies should entertain. I'm always interested in movies that scar. The thing I love about JAWS is the fact that I never went swimming in the ocean again."
